#Panorama maker pro 4.5 upgrade

I certainly won't be paying to upgrade to PM7 unless and until company can prove to me that images shot on semi-pro cameras (Nikon DSLRs) on pro tripod with pro VR head will be stitchable!

#Panorama maker pro 4.5 software

I would urge you to trial the software with your largest image files (indiv files 50-80MB EACH) and shot under differing circumstances to test software. Your mileage may vary, you may never run into images you can't stitch, but if you hit the same wall I did, the software doesn't deliver.

I sent some of the images to the company and they tried to stitch together - end result is that they couldn't, so I have stopped using the software. Others failed comprehensively, with massive distortions.Īll of my original images are shot on pro tripod with pro tripod head for shooting VRs and specifically for shooting overlapping images etc Some panos worked fine, stitched together tightly and seamlessly. I shoot a LOT of panoramic images, previously on film (scanned at 4000dpi) and now on digital SLR Then I remembered why over the years I had never had any positive experience with any ArcSoft product… probably some nice guys and gals in some now bigger sized garage with good wishes and ideas but poor implementation.Īlas, even as a big fan of panoramas for decades, even at this discounted price I would not and cannot risk this.Ī while back I bought PM 5 as part of a bundle.

The PC version too is an older version that it downloads. That probably means PM7 is even worse than PM5 Mac.

The app launched and started looking for unmounted drives, then looking for a movie I do not know even exists, and then just hung with the Cancel button inoperative.įiguring there was no harm in trying out the trial version of PM7 I went to their site… what a bunch of BS… it downloads the free trial (linked on the PM7 page) but it is PM5. I launched it to see if the app's built in Upgrade would offer something different. I spotlighted the words and found I too had bought (and never used) Panorama Maker 5. The last release was barely a month ago, but we have a backlog of new features ready to go. So keeping with the intention of tracking development better with more frequent releases, Hugin now brings you two major new features as well as the usual bugfixes and incremental improvements. With a little time and effort, you can create good panoramic images with Hugin, although it's not the most intuitive application, and can be awkward. There are tons of settings to play with for the advanced user, but the program itself offers little indication of what any of them does! The results can be impressive, but will need trimming, as they don't come out rectangular. Hugin is pretty good at finding control points - the overlapping parts of images - but it's not perfect. Basically, you have to import the images you want to 'stitch' together, then using a combination of automatic 'control point' finding, and doing so manually.
